Seascape Subsea offers advanced Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) systems, which provide accurate underwater positioning by calculating range and bearing between a surface transceiver and an underwater transponder. USBL systems work by emitting sound pulses from a transceiver on the surface (usually mounted on a boat or USV), which are then received by a transponder attached to the underwater equipment, such as an ROV, AUV, or diver. The system measures the time it takes for the sound to travel to and from the transponder, determining the distance and direction based on the angle of the returning signal. This provides real-time 3D positioning data, making USBL systems invaluable for tracking and navigation in subsea operations.
