These directional antennas replace the standard omnidirectional antenna on the BaseStation to boost its communication range. The Panel Antenna Kit provides a mid-range upgrade with a directional, 40-degree beamwidth and the Yagi Antenna Kit provides a long-range upgrade with a highly directional, 25-degree beamwidth.
By default, the BaseStation comes with an omnidirectional antenna that receives and transmits signals equally in all directions, making it great for short-range general use. For long-range missions, a directional antenna can greatly boost communication range by focusing the signal towards the BlueBoat.
The BaseStation Directional Antenna Kit comes in two versions. The Panel Antenna Kit provides a mid-range upgrade with a wider 40-degree beamwidth. The Yagi Antenna Kit provides a long-range upgrade with a narrower 25-degree beamwidth.
Both kits come with everything needed to install on the BaseStation. You’ll want to mount these on a tripod at least 1.5 meters off the ground, but an even taller tripod will get better performance.
